Technician Spotlight: Kevin Porter
At Elevated, we take great pride in recognizing our field leaders and we are excited for you to meet Kevin Porter, our Service Supervisor in Charlotte, North Carolina. 2024 marks Kevin’s 30-year anniversary with Elevated! For three decades Kevin has dedicated himself to providing best in class customer service. We sat down with Kevin to learn more about his journey.
How did you get started in the Elevator business?
I started working for my family business (Ace Elevator) which became a part of Elevated Facility Services in 2010.
What is your specialty?
Elevator maintenance and repair. I’ve been troubleshooting elevators for 30 years now! I also take a lot of pride in team leading and building customer relationships.
What has made you stay at our company for 30 years?
Elevated has been good to me, and I am surrounded by a great team. From the corporate level to the local field team, I value my teammates and getting to know my customers and see those relationships grow over the years.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to ride my Harley Davidson motorcycle, camp with friends and family, attend my daughter’s soccer games, and watching sports like NASCAR. Nothing is better than spending time with my family when I’m not working.
As someone who’s been in the business for over 30 years, what’s the biggest piece of advice you have for facility managers responsible for the elevators in their building?
Partner with a reliable service provider and build a relationship with the service technician. This not only builds trust but allows the technician to provide valuable input on regarding the equipment and give recommendations on preventative maintenance, upgrades, and repairs. This will prolong the life of the equipment while keeping the elevator up to code and operate efficiently.
