This Veteran’s Day, we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our veterans, especially the members of our team who have served in the armed forces. Their dedication and sacrifice both in and out of uniform are deeply appreciated, and we’re proud to recognize the invaluable contributions they continue to make here at Elevated.
At Elevated, we pride ourselves on not only delivering high-quality elevator services but also on the incredible people who make our work possible. One of those individuals is Hunter Knupp, a Service Supervisor we are lucky to have on our team. We sat down with Hunter to learn more about his journey from the United States Air Force to the elevator industry.
What branch of military were you in and what was your position?
I was in the Air Force (USAF) and served as an F-16 Avionics Technician.
How did you get started in the Elevator business?
I wanted to start a new career where I could apply some of my skills from the military, so I started as a service technician at Elevated in Nashville.
What skills from the military apply to what you are doing now in the elevator business?
The USAF trained me extensively on schematic diagram reading, electrical theory, and attention to detail. Also, the high pace environment of a fighter jet flight line means we had high pressure time sensitive troubleshooting tasks to maintain mission efficiency/ effectiveness. When working on elevators, these skills help me problem solve and trouble shoot to get the cars back up and running for the people who depend on them.
What do you like about being in the elevator industry, or at Elevated specifically?
Every day is different, I enjoy not being in the same place and or doing the same task every day. Sometimes I do office work, or assist our Modernization crew, or help my team troubleshoot on site.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I like to golf or watch my Georgia Bulldogs!
As a Veteran at Elevated, what advice do you have for those who were in the military but are interested in exploring a new career in the elevator industry?
I recommend the elevator industry to anyone who enjoys a challenge and is willing to do hard work. There are so many opportunities, the sky is the limit and the benefits are phenomenal. Some industries have a cap in the pay scale, and if you are interested in growing your career, Elevated is a great company that offers an apprenticeship program to teach you the skills to become an elevator technician.
